Spring 2016 has been intense. I N T E N S E. The eclipse season of March has been followed by multiple planets stationing retrograde (Saturn, Mars, Pluto, and Mercury this week) and the energy of Spring has required us to adjust, transform, shift, and then do it again. And again.
The Hindu Shakti Goddess Lakshmi steps into our week and spreads her sparkling abundance and beauty directly into the areas where we need her. We invoke and evoke her as Sri, auspiciousness in action, and revel in her ability to draw us into the abode of our hearts. Lakshmi is offering us sanctuary and from our hearts, we can weather whatever is coming and see all through the lens of love.
In Lakshmi’s creation myth, she retreats from the world at a perceived ingratitude and lack of acknowledgement from the celestial Indra. Without Lakshmi’s blessings and auspiciousness, the world begins to die.
“… all that was flowering and blooming in Indra’s kingdom wilted and began to die. The luster of life became pallid and gray. No prayers and sacrifices were offered. People ignored the poor and quarrels erupted within families and communities. No crops grew, no taxes were paid, and the cows had no milk to offer. Even the Soma (the Nectar of Immortality) dried up. Lakshmi had withdrawn herself from the land completely and retreated to her place of origin – the Ocean of Milk. The Ocean represents the primordial waters of Shakti and of life.” from Lakshmi Blessings by Kimberly Moore
One of ways that we connect to Lakshmi and stay open to receive blessings of Goddess in challenging times is gratitude practice. Lakshmi and all the blessings that she represents, success, prosperity, beauty, fertility, the luster of life that invigorates us and propels us forward in joy and happiness, do not remain where there is ingratitude.
Gratitude is an empowering attitude, action, and practice that can positively impact our lives and the lives of those around us. By just taking a few minutes a day to really reflect and contemplate on gratitude, we can make a difference on our own well-being. Gratitude expands us beyond our limitations and fears and allows joy to flow through and from us. A gratitude practice also keeps us in the present moment and brings our focus to the positives of each day. We embody and acknowledge Lakshmi and her blessings through gratitude practice. Gratitude practice is the daily reminder to operate from love and the heart. A daily reminder to invite Lakshmi into our lives.
Lakshmi throws the spell of the intoxicating sweetness of the divine; to be close to her is a profound happiness and to feel her within the heart is to make existence a rapture and a marvel; grace and charm and tenderness flow out from her like light from the sun and wherever she fixes her wonderful gaze or lets fall the loveliness of her smile, the soul is seized and made captive and plunged into the depths of an unfathomable bliss. Shri Aurobindo – The Mother
Lakshmi holds space for us to contemplate gratitude and the presence of abundance in our lives this week. Are you truly open to the blessings that Lakshmi bring? Or are you stuck in a rut of lack mentality?
The message from Lakshmi is so simple and so powerful: There is enough. YOU are enough. When you feel fear or are reacting with a mentality of lack, stop and breathe. Feel Lakshmi melting straight into your heart chakra and allow Her grace and purity to give you the strength to dissolve the fear. Not even the Gods can remain unchanged in the face of Lakshmi’s powerful influence.
A Green Aventurine crystal would be great to carry this week as a wonderful reminder of Lakshmi and it enhances the feeling of luck and blessings! Use your journal to write your gratitude each day. Create a gratitude blessing jar – each time you are grateful, write it on a slip of paper and add it to the jar. This becomes a potent physical representation of all the blessings present in your life!
Blessings of Lakshmi and Gratitude for your week! I am SO grateful for YOU!
